The Challenge
A global mobile photography application wanted to reconnect with users who remembered early smartphone photography, film-style filters, and the visual culture of the early 2010s.
The challenge was not simply to generate brand mentions. Direct promotional content was unlikely to create meaningful engagement or remain visible over time.
The campaign therefore needed to:
Enter relevant photography and nostalgia conversations naturally
Identify content themes that users would genuinely respond to
Build community assets that could remain discoverable through Google
Expand visibility around high-intent search topics such as live filters, old VSCO alternatives, nostalgic photo editing, and Korea travel photography
Our Strategy
Oddmodish developed four connected content clusters:
Early-2010s photography and nostalgia
Old VSCO and softer editing alternatives
Android live-filter camera applications
Emotional and memory-focused travel photography
The campaign began by testing community engagement through photography and nostalgia themes. It then expanded successful themes into question-based and comparison-based content designed around long-tail search intent.
Rather than treating community engagement and search visibility as separate activities, each retained community URL was evaluated as a potential long-term search asset.
Execution
The campaign included:
Community and search-intent research
Content-angle development for multiple photography communities
Long-form discussion posts and supporting participation
Search-oriented title and topic design
Ongoing URL retention checks
Google search-result monitoring
AI-search visibility analysis
Results
The campaign produced:
19 retained community URLs
More than 1,000 combined upvotes
More than 140 comments
11 verified Google page-one keyword placements
Approximately 73,000 views on the strongest individual content asset
The content entered Google page-one results for searches related to:
Android applications similar to old VSCO
Live-filter Android camera applications
Softer VSCO alternatives
Early-2010s and Tumblr-style photography
Old smartphone photos
Quiet Korea travel photography
The strongest asset reached approximately 73,000 views by connecting early-2010s visual nostalgia with the application’s historical identity. The campaign’s 19 retained URLs, 1,000+ upvotes, 140+ comments and 11 page-one keywords are recorded in the final report.
Search and AI Visibility
Oddmodish did not treat temporary AI answers as guaranteed permanent placements. Instead, community URLs that reached Google page one were classified as AI citation candidate assets.
This approach created a measurable foundation for future AI-search visibility while avoiding unsupported claims about permanent AI citation.
Business Value
The campaign demonstrated that community content can serve three purposes simultaneously:
Generate authentic discussion and engagement
Clarify which messages and creative themes resonate with users
Create searchable, retained content assets outside the company’s own website
Turn community engagement and long-tail search intent into durable growth assets.
